RELIGIOUS AND MORAL EDUCATION
S1 Course
S2 Course
S3 Course
The RME department is situated in the Thompson Building. RME provision is organised with S1 pupils being timetabled for one period per week, S2 two periods per week and S3 for one period per week. The format of S4 RME is organised ‘one off’ events throughout the year – in recent years this has included guest speakers, theatrical presentations and out of school visits.
The aims of RME are to help pupils:
develop a knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other world religions and to recognise religion as an important expression of human experience;
appreciate moral values such as liberty, equality, justice, honesty and concern for others;
investigate and understand the questions and answers that religions can offer about the nature and meaning of life;
Develop their own moral values, beliefs, attitudes and practices through the process of personal search, discovery and critical evaluation.
