ICT is delivered in S1 and S2 as part of our Core classes.

 

In S1 this covers using Microsoft WORD, improving keyboarding skills, e-mail, the internet and web browsers, desk top publishing and graphics.

 

In S2 this is extended to EXCEL spreadsheets, introductions to web design, animation software, and blogging as well as extending skills in presentation packages such as Powerpoint and Turning Point.

 

These and other aspects of ICT as used across the curriculum as a means of not only improving the ICT skills but of making the learning in our specific subject areas more meaningful and coherent.

 

All our pupils are encouraged to use ICT at home and school as much as possible. Staff regularly set homework tasks using e-mail and programmes such as SCHOLAR are used extensively in senior school to help deliver Higher courses and provide students with on-line materials to assist revision.

 

JGS is currently in the process of developing our GLOW site which will extend our learning and teaching options by making best use of the technology available. We will provide updates on how GLOW is developing through this site.
